Description

LEWANNICK SX 28 SE 2/5 Cross shaft approximately 350 metres to north of Lewannick (formerly 22.11.60 listed as wayside Cross N.of village) GV II Cross shaft. Medieval. Granite monolith, square on plan shaft for cross, the head missing. The shaft has a tenon at the top suggesting that the cross was originally a separate piece, the head secured to the shaft with a mortice and tenon joint. Square-on-plan granite socket stone raised on low base.
