Description
The cross located at the southern junction of Fore Street and the adjoining trough in Polruan is a medieval structure associated with a holy well. It features an octagonal socket stone with moulded corners and an octagonal shaft that has pyramid stops at its base. The cross is likely reduced in height, and there is a fragment of a much-worn crosshead attached to the top. The site also includes a granite trough, which is now filled in. This information is referenced in J. Meyrick's "A Pilgrim's Guide to the Holy Wells of Cornwall," published in 1982.
