Description
The service buildings attached to the north side of Pentillie Castle date from the late 18th century and early 19th century, with some later alterations. They are constructed of slatestone rubble with brick dressings and feature hipped slate roofs with lead rolls at the hips and ridge. The layout is irregular, consisting of several service buildings. On the left, there is a two-storey wing with a hipped roof, which includes double doors at the end and a smaller set of double doors on the inner side. An external granite stair provides access to a platform with a door and a 20th-century six-pane sash window; below this platform is a round-arched doorway with a brick head leading to the cellar door. The two-storey wing with a pyramidal roof has a door with a brick relieving arch on the outer side, and above it is a three-light wooden mullion and transom window with a flat brick arch. There is a diagonal buttress on the right side, which also features a similar window on the first floor. The retaining wall at the right end includes an arched doorway to the cellar and an external stack, and it continues to the right, enclosing a swimming pool. The interior has not been inspected.
