Description

Two headstones located in the southern part of the Jewish Cemetery in Falmouth commemorate Isaac ben Benjamin, who died in 1790, and Alexander Moses, who died in 1791. Both headstones are made of slate and feature nowy heads with moulded arrises, displaying dates and inscriptions in Hebrew on their fronts. The Jewish community in Falmouth was established around 1740 by Alexander Moses, also known as 'Zender Falmouth'. The Jewish Cemetery, along with the nearby Congregational cemetery, is situated on land granted by Lord de Dunstanville in the late 18th century.
