Description
This milestone, located 30 metres southeast of Argille House, dates from the mid-18th century and is made of granite. It is a rectangular monolith with a rounded top, featuring the inscription "CAM" and a benchmark below. The milestone is associated with the Act of Parliament passed in 1759 for the construction and repair of roads from Launceston to Camelford, Wadebridge, St Columb, and Truro. Rev. William Phillips, the Rector of Lanteglos, was responsible for inscribing the figures on the milestones.
