Description
Prospect House is a villa built in the early to mid-19th century. It features a stucco exterior on masonry, with a plinth, a carved mid-floor band, rusticated quoins, and keyed segmental arches. The roof is hipped and covered with Delabole slate, having projecting eaves and two rendered stacks on the right side. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window front. The windows are late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes. There is a central later 19th-century glazed transomed porch with coloured margin panes, which includes a central door and a moulded cornice leading to a flat roof. The left-hand return features a two-window range that matches the front, along with a two-window bay set back on the left, which has two narrow sashes, one of which has coloured margin panes above a ledged door. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported to retain most of its original features, including the staircase, good plasterwork, panelled doors, and window shutters.
