Description

This is a chimney and adjoining wall that served a former china clay works, dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble and features a round-on-plan chimney with a wall attached to the south side. The chimney is a single-stage tapered design, possibly with a collar, although the top is obscured by ivy. This structure is one of three surviving chimneys associated with the once extensive china clay works at Wheal Grey, making it the only remaining evidence of clay works in west Cornwall.
