Description
No. 8 Pike Street is a town house with two shops, likely built in the 18th century. It was refronted in the mid-19th century and altered in the early 20th century. The building features part slate hanging and part stucco on studwork on the first floor, topped with a rag slate roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with an irregular two-window range. On the right side, there is a mid-19th century 12-pane hornless sash window above an early 20th century half shop front projection with a doorway to the right, which is central to the overall double shop front that includes end pilasters and a fascia with a moulded cornice shared with No. 10. On the left side, there is an early 20th century four-light canted oriel with a moulded cornice above a mid-20th century double shop front. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
