Description
Forester’s Hall is a hall dating from 1896, originally built for the East Cornwall Savings Bank. It is constructed of rubble masonry with polychrome granite and freestone dressings, featuring a steep, sprocketed dry Delabole slate roof with two tiers of eaves brackets. The building has a deep plan and is designed in a Venetian Gothic style. It has two storeys and a 1:3:1 window arrangement of lancets, with an impost string and sill string above a ground-floor loggia. The loggia comprises three pointed arches on chamfered columns, set on a tall plinth. A central doorway breaks through the plinth and includes a dividing band inscribed "Forester's Hall 1896." There is a row of four trefoil-headed lancets within the loggia, flanked by pointed-arched doorways with original planked doors. The interior was not inspected. Forester’s Hall is one of two buildings in Liskeard designed with a Ruskin-inspired style, the other being the Masonic Hall on The Parade.
