Description

This barn, located 12 metres south of Frogwell Farmhouse, dates to the 1840s, with later extensions added around the 1870s. It is constructed of rubblestone with large granite quoins, and features stone dressings. The roofs are slate, with asbestos slate on the right hipped end and scantle slate on the left, with rag slate on the south east range and hipped ends. The barn has an 'L' shape plan, resulting from extensions to the north west and south east. The main north west range is symmetrical, with five round arched shippon openings, some now blocked. A double timber door is centrally placed above the shippon, sheltered by a hipped slate hood. Flanking this are two square openings. An extension on the right-hand side has a continued roof. A door with a brick segmented arch is on the left, above which is a window under a similar arch. A projecting wing on the south east has three ground floor doors, two with granite, chamfered lintels, and two upper doors. Pigeon holes are present in the left-hand hipped end. The design is similar to the barn to the north east, and to the barn to the west of East Frogwell Farmhouse.
