Description
Newhouse Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed from painted stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building has gable end stacks with rendered shafts.
The farmhouse has a two-room plan with a central entrance, with each room heated by a gable end stack. Attached to the rear right is a single-storey outshut, which is unheated and was probably originally used as a dairy.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All the windows are late 18th-century 12-pane sashes with cambered arches, and there is a central 20th-century glazed door. The right and left sides of the building are blind, and there is a single-storey outshut at the rear right.
The interior has been cleared, featuring two granite steps along the back and a plank door. The fireplace has a cambered arch, and the back wing includes a bread oven.
