Description
Whim plat, dating from the early 19th century, is constructed from slate stone rubble and is built into the side of a steeply sloping bank above a disused quarry and mine at the edge of the sea. The structure is semi-circular and serves as a retaining wall, featuring a flat platform where a capstan was situated. It includes two shafts with large openings on the lower side, designed to accommodate the ropes used for hauling materials from below.
