Description
Leaze is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, constructed from rendered stone rubble with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. The roof continues over a single-storey rear outshot with a continuous catslide. The building has stone rubble end stacks.
The layout consists of a two-room plan with a through passage. The larger room, likely a hall kitchen, is on the right, while the parlour is on the left, both heated by end stacks. A rear outshot, which includes a dairy and back kitchen, was added in the 18th century. In the early 19th century, the passage was likely widened, and a staircase was inserted on the left side.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical three-window front. There is a glazed 20th-century conservatory to the left, a 19th-century door to the left of centre, and a 19th-century two-light casement window to the right. The first floor features three late 19th-century centre-hung two-light casements. The rear has a catslide roof.
Inside, there is a partly blocked fireplace, probably with granite jambs on the right, and a 19th-century staircase. The interior has remained largely unaltered since the 19th century.
