Description

This is a house, built around the mid-18th century and extended in 1828, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins. The roofs are slate, with gable ends to the main range, a gable end to the rear wing, and a hipped end where the rear wing meets the main range. Brick stacks are present, including a projecting stone rubble stack with a brick shaft to the rear wing.

The original plan likely consisted of a single room facing east, with an entrance to the left of centre and a heating stack on the right (north). In 1828, the house was extended, potentially as a separate dwelling, creating a double-depth plan. This extension was added to the left (south) end of the original house, forming an overall ‘T’ shape. A later range faces south, featuring a central entrance into a passage, two reception rooms on the front, heated by end stacks, a kitchen in the rear right (northeast), and a dairy in the rear left (northwest).

The 1828 range has a symmetrical three-window south front. Late 20th-century sash windows are set within dressed stone arches. The ground floor features two 16-pane sashes and a central 19th-century six-panel door. Above are three 16-pane sashes. A datestone to the right of centre reads 'RD 1828'. A lean-to addition projects from the right-hand gable end. The rear wing includes an early 19th-century two-light casement window.

The interior remains largely complete, with roughly moulded granite lintels above the fireplaces. A 19th-century dog-leg staircase features stick balusters.
