Description

A terrace of three houses built in the early 19th century in Launceston. The houses are constructed with stucco facades on rubble walls and have rag slate roofs, with a hipped roof to the right-hand house. They feature rendered axial stacks, a brick stack on the left, and cast-iron ogee gutters. The houses follow a double-depth plan and are two storeys high, with a basement to number 3 on the right. The overall facade is a five-window range, with number 3 having a single-window front. The original windows are 16-pane hornless sashes to number 1; the remaining windows are late 19th-century sashes with horns. There are canted bays on the ground floor of numbers 2 and 3, which are oriels. The houses have 6-panel doors with overlights. Number 2 features a pilastered, shoulder-headed porch with a moulded cornice. Number 3 has a three-window entrance front to its right-hand return, including a central canted bay over a basement doorway. This section has sashes with glazing bars. A round-headed doorway on the right-hand side provides access via a flight of curved granite steps with a wrought-iron handrail, leading to a 6-panel door and sidelights.
