Lych Gate To South West Of Church Of St Keyne

The lych gate and schoolroom, located to the southwest of the Church of St Keyne, is believed to date back to the 14th century but was refurbished or rebuilt in the early 19th century and restored in the 1980s. It is constructed from local stone rubble with some granite dressings. The building features a jettied upper floor with slate hanging on studwork and a dry Delabole slate roof that is pyramidal over the lych gate. The structure has a rectangular plan with the lych gate positioned on the right (south) side. It stands two storeys high and has three windows on the west front. The left side features a wide four-light casement window, while the other windows are wooden mullioned with round-arched lights, including a four-light window to the left of the lych gate and a two-light window at the lych gate and on the return. The interior has not been inspected.
