Description
Penhallow House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It features rendered rubble stonework with granite quoins and a slate roof. The building has a two-cell plan with a central hall and a narrow rear range that contains the stair, all under a symmetrical roof, reflecting a developed linhay plan. There is a large lean-to on the left side that houses the kitchen. The house has gable stacks and is two storeys high, with a symmetrical elevation that is wider on the right side. A late 19th-century six-panelled door with contemporary brass fittings leads into the house. The ground floor has twenty-paned sash windows, partially renewed, set in openings with brick segmental arches, while the first floor features sixteen-paned sashes. The stacks are rendered. Inside, the main living room is located in the right bay, likely where the original kitchen was situated. It has open bead arris moulded ceiling joists and varnished boarding, with a late 20th-century fireplace and a 20th-century stair.
