Description

The finger post at the junction with Station Road is an early 20th-century cast iron direction post. It features a tapered shaft with a moulded cap and base. There are four direction signs attached, which read in sans serif capitals: (a) MITCHELL 3 BODMIN 19, (b) TRURO 9 REDRUTH 13, (c) CUBERT 3 HOLYWELL 4½, NEWQUAY 5 3/4, and (d) ST COLUMB 8. The top of the post is moulded and has a square pyramidal finial. The casting is signed on the shaft by W. VISICK & SONS, DEVORAN. The Basset Foundry at Devoran operated from around 1900 to 1939.
