Description
Little Nanhellan is a house dating from the 17th century, which was largely rebuilt in the late 18th to early 19th century. It features painted stone gable walls and a ground floor, while the upper floor is made of cob. The roof is covered with corrugated asbestos. The building has a plan consisting of three bays, with a central cross hallway that has been opened out to create a dining room on the right side. The sitting room is located on the left. There is a 20th-century porch and a lean-to kitchen along the back wall. The right gable has a large external stack with offsets, which is now mostly enclosed by a single-storey lean-to made of locally produced rendered blockwork. The house is two storeys high and has a plank door with a diamond light within the porch, as well as paned casement windows. Inside, there are wide spaced deep exposed joists and an open fireplace from the 19th century within the earlier gable stack. The 20th-century lean-to at the rear likely replaces a former narrow service bay that ran the full length of the back.
