Description
No. 5 Bank Street is a house and shop that has been converted into a restaurant. It likely dates from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of stone rubble, rendered at the ground floor, and has slate-hung and painted surfaces on the first and second floors. It features a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and has two stacks on the right side with brick shafts and cornices. The layout is a double depth plan with the shop located at the front. The ground floor is now a single restaurant space. The exterior has three storeys and two windows, presenting a symmetrical front. The ground floor includes a 20th-century double shop front that is glazed, with a central glazed door and a fascia above. On the first and second floors, there are two 19th-century four-pane sash windows in exposed boxes. The right side of the building is slate-hung and painted at the upper level. The interior has not been inspected.
