Nos 1 And 2 (Adjoining Thatched Cottage, Nos 3 And 4)

Nos 1 and 2 are a small house and an adjoining cottage, dating from the early 19th century. They feature painted rubble walls, slate sills, and cambered brick arches. The roofs are covered with slurried scantle slate and there are brick chimneys over the gable end of the cottage on the left, over the party wall between the cottage and the house, and over the adjoining gable end of The Thatched Cottage on the right.

The cottage has a single cell plan with an entrance passage that leads to a stair on the right side. The house consists of two rooms: a kitchen on the left and a parlour on the right, with a passage in between that leads to the stair. The buildings are two storeys high and have an overall front with four windows. The cottage has a regular two-window front with a doorway on the right, which is set within a shallow lean-to wooden porch. The house has a nearly symmetrical two-window front on the right, with a central doorway in a shallow gabled wooden porch. The parlour window is slightly narrower than the others. All the windows are late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes. The interiors have not been inspected. The buildings have hardly been altered since the late 19th century and are part of a group that overlooks the village green and cross.
