Description
The chest tomb located 2 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Probus and St Grace is dedicated to Christopher Hawkins Bart and dates from 1829, with a date of 1914 inscribed on the north side. It is made of freestone and features a rectangular plan in the Baroque style. The tomb has a moulded plinth that supports the chest, which is adorned with festooned cartouche panels on each side, each featuring angel heads. The corners are marked by square posts topped with fleur de lys capitals. Carved male bearers, depicted in 17th century style armor, are shown crouching on one knee at each corner, supporting the chest lid.
