Description

Lanarth House is a house built around the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century wing on the left and a service wing at the rear, also from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of rubble serpentine stone with dressed granite quoins and voussoirs over segmental arches above the windows. The main section has a half-hipped slate roof and rendered brick chimneys at the hipped ends. The flanking wings also have hipped slate roofs at their ends.

The house is three stories tall with an attic and features a symmetrical central portion with a four-window front. On the ground and first floors, there are four 12-pane sash windows (without horns), and on the second floor, there are four 9-pane sash windows (without horns). A central dormer includes a half-round iron lattice balcony, and there is an open lattice work balcony on the first floor. The two-storey wings on either side of the central portion add to the symmetry.

The right-hand wing has a three-window front, with the main entrance door on the left featuring a double 19th-century panelled door and a fanlight above. There is a later ashlar-faced porch with a flat roof and a double 20th-century timber door. To the right, there are two 12-pane sashes (without horns) with three 9-pane sashes (without horns) above. The left-hand wing has a canted end with 12-pane sashes (with horns) on the ground and first floors on each face. Each wing is topped with rusticated granite parapets.

At the rear, there is a slate-hung projection with a bowed staircase projection, featuring a tall, slightly bowed sash window with a rounded head and radiating glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected but may contain internal features from the period.
