ST AGNES WHEAL COATES SW 75 SW 4/254 Stamps house at SW700500 - GV II

Engine house for working stamps and winding, and including walls of former stamps and other assoicated structures, disused. Circa mid-late C19. killas rubble walls, some granite dressings; brick arches over principal window opening, timber lintels over some openings. Rubble chimney. Plan: Rectangular plan engine house with round chimney engaging left-hand (offside) wall towards rear. On lover ground in front are the slotted walls of former stamps. A little distance to the right (south) are the foundation walls of probably a former whim. No wooden floors, roof structure or machinery survives. Exterior: 3 storeys over basement. Mostly original openings. Front (bob) wall has tall square-headed doorway. Rear gable wall has round-headed opening to each floor. Right-hand (nearside) wall has 2 window openings to each floor. left-hand first floor window opening has at some time been enlarged. Left-hand (offside) wall has 2 large openings.
