Description

The gate piers at the northwest end of Arwenack Avenue date from around 1700 and mark the entrance to the former grounds of Arwenack Manor. They are constructed of faced rubble with freestone dressings, topped with granite capstones and ball finials. The piers are square in plan and flank a former narrow carriageway. They feature stepped plinths at the front, a moulded entablature, and pyramidal caps.
