Description

This is a dovecot located about 60 metres north of Antony House, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick on a rubble plinth and features a conical slate roof with a cupola for dove entry. The dovecot has a circular plan and is built in Flemish bond brickwork, with a segmental-headed doorway that has a gauged brick head on the south side. The cupola has an octagonal hipped roof and consists of two tiers. Inside, the walls are rendered and there are rows of square pigeonholes all around. It also includes three tiers of circular wooden platforms on a potence, accessible by a ladder. The roof is made of common rafters with diagonal braces that create a feather pattern.
