Description
The Grange is a rectory that has been converted into a house and office, built around 1817-1820. It features granite ashlar construction, with the sides and rear made of uncoursed killas rubble, granite quoins, and brick lintels. The building has a double-pile plan and is two storeys high, plus attics, with five symmetrical bays in a simple classical style. It includes a plinth, cornice, and blocking course. The central round-headed doorway is framed by a raised surround with pilasters and imposts, topped with a semicircular fanlight that has traceried radiating glazing bars and a thin cornice. All windows are 12-pane unhorned sashes with raised sills and plain surrounds, and the roofs feature gable chimneys. The left return wall has a 24-pane window in the center, which was likely a former doorway, a 16-pane sash at the rear, 12-pane sashes on the first floor, and 9-pane sashes in the attics. The rear mostly has 16-pane sashed windows with flat-arched brick heads. The interior has been altered.
