Description
This building is a barn located about 8 metres north-west of St Tinney Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from local shale rubble, with some granite and quartz, and features granite quoins and lintels. The barn has a rag slate roof with gabled ends and a rectangular plan.
The structure consists of two cells on the ground floor, housing stables and a shippon, with a barn above. Access to the barn is provided by a flight of stone steps at the back and a loading door at the front. The building is two storeys high.
On the ground floor, there are two doorways with granite lintels and boarded doors. The stable doorway, which is wider, is located to the left of centre, while the shippon doorway is to the right. To the left, there is a stable window with a chamfered granite jamb reused as a lintel. Above this, on the left, is a wide loading doorway with boarded double doors, a slate threshold, and a slated canopy supported by wooden cantilevers. To the right, there is a small first-floor window with a slate cill.
At the rear, to the right, a wide flight of stone steps with slate treads leads to the first-floor doorway, which also has boarded double doors and a slated canopy on wooden cantilevers. The roof features later soft-wood bolted trusses.
