Description

The Upper Deer House is a fodder house for deer located in the deer park at Edgcumbe Country Park. It was built in the late 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed from sandstone rubble with granite piers. The building is a single-storey, open-fronted structure with a loft above and is currently roofless. The front features five bays divided by granite monolith piers, with additional granite piers along the rear and three square plan rubble piers in the central bays. The gable end walls are made of sandstone rubble with quoins and each has a loading door opening at the upper level. A timber wall-plate remains intact.
