Description
This pair of cottages, dating from the early 18th century, is located to the north of Elm View. They are constructed from rendered stone rubble and cob, featuring a rag slate roof on the left-hand cottage and an asbestos slate roof on the right-hand cottage, both with gable ends. Large rendered chimney stacks are positioned on the gable ends.
Each cottage consists of two rooms heated by gable end stacks, with a central cross passage. The right-hand cottage has an additional one-room service range added to its right-hand gable end. The cottages are two storeys high with a regular overall four-window front. Both cottages have late 19th-century two-light casement windows. The left-hand cottage includes a rendered brick porch with a slate lean-to roof and a plank door near the centre, while the right-hand cottage features a stone rubble porch with a rag slate roof and a 20th-century door to the left of centre. The rear elevations remain unaltered.
Inside the left-hand cottage, there are slight ceiling beams from the 19th century and a large kitchen fireplace on the left. A water pump is located in the front garden. The interiors have not been fully inspected.
