Description
The Cornish cross is located in a flowerbed on the east side of the recreation ground, approximately 75 metres north of the gateway. This medieval cross features the head and part of the shaft, made from roughly-hewn granite with a rectangular section. It stands about ¾ metre high and has a slightly bulbous round-headed top with a minimal wheelhead. The west face displays a raised Latin cross, while the east face has a raised Greek cross. The cross is now set in a square granite base, next to a separately mounted bronze plaque that reads: "THE OLD CAMBORNE CROSS/ PRESENTED TO THIS TOWN/ BY W.D.TYACK, ESQ. WAS/ REMOVED FROM TREVU ON/ THE 22nd OCTOBER, 1935". This cross is one of two that were formerly located in the grounds of Trevu House; the other cross is now situated in the forecourt of Camborne Methodist Church on Chapel Street.
