Description

This is a pair of town houses, now two separate dwellings, located in Penryn. The building likely originated in the 17th century, but was substantially renovated in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted rubble walls with a steeply pitched roof covered in asbestos slates. The original layout was a single-depth plan, with later extensions added to the rear. The two-storey facade has a four-window arrangement. The windows are late 19th-century horned sashes, with tripartite sashes in wider openings to the right. A pair of stuccoed, pilastered door surrounds, featuring consoles and bracketed cornices, sits slightly right of centre, leading to modern part-glazed doors.

The interior of number 30 retains some original features, including 18th-century bowtell-moulded ceiling beams and an L-shaped staircase with turned balusters. There is a pegged roof structure. A lateral fireplace structure has been removed. The front window openings have been altered at some point, as evidenced by straight joints on either side of the wide windows.
