Description
The former south-west wing at Treworgey is likely a 17th-century stable and hayloft. It is constructed of slatestone and other rubble, with some dressed granite, timber lintels, and a dry slate roof, which is lower at the front and has irregular gable ends. The building follows a single-depth, long rectangular plan.
The west side features three irregularly-placed window openings, four doorways at ground floor level, and loading doorways above the more central ones. The east garden elevation is overgrown with foliage and has at least three 17th-century hollow-chamfered openings; a similar opening is also visible on the west side of the adjoining garden wall.
Inside, a room at the north end is said to have been used as a cell, with access from the first floor above and a blocked doorway to the east side on the ground floor. The roof structure is particularly noteworthy, featuring unequal trusses with pegged lapped collars and apexes, and curved feet over the higher wall plate of the east wall.
