Description
Studio House is a former Sunday school of a Methodist Church, now functioning as a house. It was built in 1880, with a porch added in 1898, and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed from snecked slatestone rubble with granite dressings, and features slate roofs with gable ends and raised coped verges, along with crested ridge tiles.
The main hall has a gable end on both the left and right sides, with a front wing that projects to the right, where the porch is situated at the angle to the main range. The main hall stands on a plinth and is supported by buttresses, featuring two 2-light casement windows with shouldered heads. The gable end on the left has a 20th-century door, while the right gable end displays a datestone from 1880 and a triple lancet window with pointed arches, the central light being taller.
The front wing has a gable end with a 2-light window that features a pointed arch, Y-tracery, and a hood mould with mask stops, along with a ventilation breather above and buttresses. There is a brick stack on the right side of the wing. The porch, dated 1898, has a gabled roof and features shouldered heads above the 20th-century double doors, as well as a single light with a shouldered head on the side. The interior has not been inspected.
