Description
A row of five early 19th-century houses, Nos. 4-8 Falcon Terrace in Bude, with alterations made in the 20th century. The houses are whitewashed and plastered with slate roofs, some of which have been renewed and are partly bitumen-painted. The roof is gabled at the left end, and brick chimneys are present.
The terrace consists of an end terrace house and four pairs of houses. The end terrace house is obliquely angled and has a projection under a low-pitched gable at the front. The eaves project, and the roof slopes are uninterrupted. Nos. 5, 6, and 7 retain their original six-panel front doors, with glazed upper panels. Nos. 4 and 8 have 20th-century porches. The end terrace house features a canted timber bay window on the ground floor, with a 12-pane timber sash window to the front and 8-pane timber sash windows to the returns, all with horns. The first-floor window is a 19th-century 12-pane hornless sash. There is a blind oval panel in the gable. The remaining windows throughout the terrace are 19th-century hornless sashes, arranged as six panes above six panes. A blind recess is situated at first-floor level between each pair of houses. Falcon Terrace was completed before 1836.
The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Each house is part of a terraced group.
