Description
This building is a barn and cart shed located approximately 20 meters south of Kestle Barton Farmhouse and Kestle Cottage. It dates from the late 18th century and was extended in the 19th century. The structure features partly painted rubble walls with wooden lintels and has a hipped corrugated iron roof, which was originally covered with scantle slate. The barn has a rectangular plan, designed for fodder or grain storage with a loft above a shippon or stables/loose boxes. To the right, there is a later single-storey cartshed or coach house. The building is two storeys high and has a nearly regular north front. This facade includes two similar groupings of a doorway on the left and a window on the right, with a loading doorway above, as well as a slit ventilator to the right. The far right features a wide doorway and a narrower doorway leading to the coach house and stable. The old ledged doors include some with ventilation slits. The interior has not been inspected.
