Description
Local Maid is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 18th century. It has been significantly altered in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble, featuring a rustic render known locally as 'Polperro ripple', and has a slate roof with gable ends. There is a large stone rubble chimney stack on the left-hand gable end. The original layout was likely a two-room cross passage plan, but the interior has been gutted.
The building stands two storeys high and has an asymmetrical facade with two windows. On the ground floor, there is a 9-pane window to the left and a 12-pane window to the right, with a part-glazed 20th-century door situated between them. Above, there are two 2-light casements with glazing bars. The interior has been altered, and the building is included for its group value context.
