Description
The terraces and sunken garden to the north of Prideaux Place in Padstow date from around the mid-19th century. The garden features retaining walls and a series of stone steps leading down to a sunken area that includes a pond with a quatrefoil shape at its center. There are four flights of stone steps, each flanked by low walls, with the stone bases acting as newels that were originally topped with classical urns, of which at least two still remain. To the north, there is a low stone rubble retaining wall, while the pond to the south is bordered by low stone walls that have a moulded coping. The garden is currently overgrown and was originally designed to include a conservatory.
