Description
This is a roofless house located in Zennor, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a partly external stone stack at the left-hand (south) gable end. The building has a small rectangular plan, currently consisting of one room with a large fireplace at the left-hand end. It was likely originally designed with two rooms, with the lower right-hand room being unheated, possibly serving as storage or sleeping space in the original steep roof space. The survival of this simple 18th-century building type in an unaltered form is unusual.
The exterior is single-storey with a symmetrical two-window east front and a central doorway. There is a small window at the rear opposite the doorway. Inside, there is a large fireplace at the left-hand end, with a narrow recess on the left and a wide recess on the right. The house is part of an unspoiled coastal hamlet set within the ancient field system of this area of Cornwall.
