Description
The cross located in the churchyard about 3 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Sidwell and St Gulval is a Grade II* listed structure. This pre-Conquest granite monolith stands approximately 3 metres high and is roughly hewn. The shaft has a rectangular plan and tapers, featuring two diamonds carved on the front (to the east) and lugs below the head. The lower part of the shaft is a later replacement. The wheelhead is of the four-hole type, with a moulded rim and a primitive raised carved patee cross on both the front and rear. This cross is designated as ancient monument number 420.
