Description
Merrifield is a small farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, likely dating from the 17th century. The building features a rendered exterior, which is probably over rubble and possibly cob, and has a steep dry slate roof. There is a large central rendered stack with a brick shaft, a rendered end stack on the right side, and an external lateral stack on the left-hand side of the rear wing. The overall plan is U-shaped, with a rear wing at right angles on the left, built into the bank, and an outbuilding adjoining the corner of the wing and running parallel at the rear. The farmhouse has two storeys and an irregular two-window range, with 20th-century windows and a door. The doorway is located at the far left, with a window to its right within a 20th-century outshut. The interior has not been inspected.
