Description
Numbers 1 and 2 are a terrace of two houses built between 1768 and 1771, located on Redcliffe Parade West in Bristol. The houses are constructed of stucco with limestone dressings, featuring brick party wall stacks and a pantile double-pile roof. They are designed in the mid-Georgian style and consist of three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a three-window range.
The facade includes pilasters leading to a moulded parapet coping and coped end gables. Number 1 has a right-hand doorway, while Number 2 features an entrance on the side elevation facing Jubilee Place. The tall doorway is adorned with an architrave and consoles supporting a canopy, along with a rectangular fanlight and a six-panel door. There is also a plain 20th-century side door. The windows have plain, keyed architraves, with six-over-six pane sashes on the lower floors and three-over-three panes on the second floor, complemented by two hipped dormers.
The front areas are flagged and include railings and gates topped with urn finials, along with steps leading up to the doorway and down to the basement. These houses share the same design as the rest of Redcliffe Parade West. The eastern side of Redcliffe Parade was left uncompleted until the early 19th century and was finished in a different style. The interior has not been inspected.
