Description
The Ostrich Inn is a public house located in Bathurst Basin, Redcliff, and dates from the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of stucco with limestone dressings and has a single-depth plan. It stands three storeys tall with a basement and features a five-window range. The front is slightly asymmetrical, topped with a coped parapet that ramps up to the center. The doorway, positioned to the right of center, is adorned with brackets supporting a pedimented lintel, and includes a rectangular overlight with margin bars and a half-glazed door. The ground-floor windows are horned 6/6-pane sashes with pedimented lintels, while the upper windows are 8/8-pane sashes. There is a 20th-century single-storey extension to the left. Inside, the interior is largely a 20th-century public house design, with an irregular back against the cliff that includes a small cave.
