Description

A pair of attached houses on Cotham Road, Bristol, dating from approximately 1840. The houses are built with rendered walls and limestone dressings, featuring lateral and party wall stacks. They are constructed to a double-depth plan and are two storeys high with a two-window range. The front elevation has narrow, recessed end sections, and pilasters with Corinthian capitals at the corners and between the windows, topped by a cornice and parapet. The returns have six-panel doors. The front has French windows beneath a full-width canopy supported by unusual cast-iron brackets shaped like coiled snakes, and first-floor windows featuring eight-over-eight panes. Inside No. 7, the large entrance hall has a dogleg staircase with a curved end to the party wall, stick balusters, wainscot, six-panel doors, and panelled shutters.
