Description
The Transit Shed W is a warehouse built in 1893, featuring a steel frame with red brick and blue engineering brick dressings, topped with a double-pile slate roof. It has a single-depth plan and stands two stories tall with an 11-window range. The dockside elevation showcases an open ground floor, characterized by blue brick quoins, dressings, and a cornice. Ground-floor steel stanchions support a first-floor concrete loading shelf. The brick first floor includes alternate loading entrances with concrete lintels and semicircular-arched windows, along with late 20th-century plate-glass windows. The paired end gables are adorned with oculi. The interior has been converted into shops and offices, while the original steel truss roof and steelwork remain visible.
