Description
The chimney of the hydraulic engine house, built in 1888, is located approximately 2 metres north of the engine house in Bristol's Underfall Yard. This chimney is constructed from brick and terracotta and features a detached octagonal shape with a flared terracotta cap. It served as the exhaust for the boiler furnace of the steam engine in the engine house. This chimney is part of a complete group of dock buildings constructed in the mid-1880s and was integral to powering the extensive hydraulic system within the docks. It is noted for preserving the essential character of the dock landscape.
