Pair of attached houses. Dated 1805 in the deeds. Stucco with limestone dressings, tall brick party wall stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 2-window range. A symmetrical front has single-storey side entrance blocks, rising to 2 storeys half way back; clasping pilasters to the centre block to a moulded parapet, with a recessed party wall strip. C20 door to No.17, elliptical-arched doorway to No.19 with an architrave and fanlight and 6-panel door. 8/8-pane sashes, 4/8 to the second floor, with outer semicircular-arched recesses, blind to the left and with 2/2-pane sashes to the right. Matching rear elevation with a canted bay to No.19. INTERIOR: different plans to each, No.19 has entrance hall and central lateral dogleg winder stair with stick balusters and column newels, with cupboards between the stair and the party wall, a semicircular-arched basement door, marble fireplaces, 6-panel doors and panelled shutters. No.17 has an open dogleg stair. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front garden walls and ashlar piers. The earliest house built on the road.
