Description
A pair of attached houses dating from the early to mid-19th century, located on Richmond Hill Avenue in Clifton, Bristol. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings, incorporating a brick party wall stack, and have a hidden roof. They are built on a double-depth plan and are in a Neoclassical style. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and features a three-window range. The front elevation is symmetrical, with one-window entrance blocks set back at each end and a four-window centre. Giant pilasters rise to a moulded coping and low parapet. The side blocks have simple surrounds to six-panel doors and semicircular-arched windows above. First-floor windows incorporate overlights with margin panes, and French windows. Number 5 has a tented timber balcony with wrought-iron pointed-arched railings containing quatrefoils, and all windows have six-over-six pane sashes. The interior remains uninspected. Attached rubble front garden walls and two pairs of rusticated piers are also part of the listed structure.
