Description
Gundimore is an early 19th-century building with an unusual design, said to resemble a Turkish tent. It features gilt Arabic inscriptions that reflect the original owner's travels in the East. The building is stuccoed and topped with a slate roof, consisting of a central section flanked by two wings, with the northeastern wing now known as Scott's Cottage. It stands two storeys high, with the centre featuring five windows and a large curved bay topped with a conical roof. At the southwest corner of this bay is a round, two-storey turret that resembles a squat house, with the upper storey almost entirely glazed and fitted with French casements and Venetian shutters. There is also a single-storey wing to the southwest. Gundimore, along with The Anchorage and its boundary wall, forms a group with Scott's Cottage and its boundary wall, while a modern house set back in trees does not visually intrude on the setting.
