Description
The Red House Museum, originally built as Christchurch Workhouse in 1764, is a notable building located on Quay Road. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers, featuring an eaves cornice and a tiled roof. The building has two storeys, four hipped dormers above, and ten casement windows with square leaded quarrels. There are two doorways, each with hoods supported on brackets, and six panelled doors. The northern doorway is distinguished by a broken scroll pediment and a rectangular fanlight. The Red House Museum is part of a group that includes its Art Gallery, Picture Store, the Museum Garden Wall, and the Churchyard Walls and Vicarage, which are also associated with the group on Church Lane.
